What kind of donations do you accept?

Anything that is in good, clean working condition and in relevant to our client's needs. We have a full basement to store furniture and home furnishings for our clients to take when they move out.
If you have any questions, or to schedule a furniture pick-up please call 537-3113.
We also accept unexpired food, including leftovers.
We cannot accept donations of clothing and used toys. We suggest that you take those to salvation army (308 Poyntz 785-539-9399) or Seven Dolors Family Budget Shop (8th and Colorado 785-565-5010), both these places give our clients vouchers for free clothing.

Our donation and receiving room is located off of Yuma street. Please come to the door and ring the buzzer and someone will be with you shortly. Donations are accepted from 8:00am until 9:00pm, Monday through Sunday.

Our clients at the Caroline Peine Transitional Shelter receive a place to sleep, store their belongings, with shower facilities and hygiene products, food, individualized case management, referral services, and household furnishings when they move into their home.

To stay at the Caroline Peine Transitional shelter one must:

- Be 18 years of age or reside with a parent or legal guardian.
- Refrain from using alcohol or drugs
- Follow basic behavior and respect rules.
- Obey a curfew
- Maintain confidentiality of others

Due to the confidentiality of our clients we at MESI cannot confirm or deny that someone is staying here. To contact a client please call (785) 537-3113 and leave a message with staff. They will post the message for the client.

Each case is different and depends on the person's situation. The average stay is 45 nights.
